Hope is where three major highways converge — the Coquihalla (Hwy 5), the Trans-Canada (Hwy 1), and Highway 3 to the Okanagan. That means a lot of long-distance traffic, a lot of grades, and a lot of vehicles that picked the wrong day to die. The most common Hope breakdown calls are overheated engines on the Coquihalla climb, transmission failures coming down off Manning Park, and out-of-town drivers who didn't realize how far apart fuel stops are in the canyon.

Highway 1 canyon breakdowns — usually older vehicles or overloaded trucks that lost cooling between Yale and Hope.
