Harrison Mills sits at the gateway to a wide network of Forest Service Roads — Chehalis FSR, the Morris Valley back roads, and the routes heading north toward Harrison Lake and up to Sasquatch Mountain. It's a year-round destination — winter skiers and summer hikers and bikers heading up to Sasquatch, plus the regular fisher, hunter, dirt biker, and quad rider traffic on the FSRs. The terrain is mixed — gravel, mud, washouts, river crossings — and FSRs change condition fast between visits. When you get stuck out here, you can sit a long time waiting for a tow company willing to come find you. We do.
Common situations at Harrison Mills
Stuck 4x4s on Chehalis FSR — bogged in a soft section after rain, or off the edge of a narrow stretch. ATV and side-by-side recoveries in the Morris Valley network — rolls, mud bogs, mechanical breakdowns on a trail. Slide-offs on washed-out spurs — the secondary roads off the main FSR are where most of the trouble happens. Sasquatch Mountain Road calls — vehicles broken down on the climb up, especially in winter when chains and tires get tested, and in summer when overheating catches out drivers on the grade. Hunter and fisher recoveries — vehicles parked off the main route that get stuck trying to back out, or that died miles in.
